For first time visitors, our Essential Thailand tour is the ultimate itinerary for discovering the diverse culture and scenery of the country. A private tour visiting Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, this 12 day tour program is full of in-depth excursions to the main sites of Thailand as well as unique, often hidden, locations.

Day 1

Bangkok arrival (D)

Upon arrival in Bangkok, you will meet with your local guide and transfer to your hotel. Have diner at “The Deck” riverside restaurant and overnight in Bangkok.

Day 2

Bangkok – Sightseeing (B/L)

Visit the Wat Pho and its famous 45-metre reclining Buddha, admire The Grand Palace, Thailand’s most important landmark, walk through the older parts of Bangkok, enjoy a boat  trip along Bangkok Noi Klongs, and much more. Overnight in Bangkok.
Day 3
Bangkok – Countryside Tour (B/L)
Drive 80km south of Bangkok to Samut Songkhram. Today you will have a glimpse into Thai countryside life.
Experience local country markets, take a paddle boat journey, and visit King Rama II Memorial Park. Overnight in Bangkok. 
Day 4

Bangkok – Ayutthaya – Bangkok (B)

Have a day-trip by train to the historical park of Ayutthaya. Aboard a “Kermit” Tuk Tuk, discover magnificent ruins and temples, visit the Muslim quarter, the local market, then have a long-tailed boat ride to Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, before to explore the Wat Nivet Thammaprawat Buddhist temple and to return by train to the Thai capital. Overnight in Bangkok.
Day 5

Bangkok – Chiang Mai (B)

Flight to the northern capital of Thailand “Chiang Mai”. After checking in your hotel, drive to the countryside and have a long-tail boat cruise on the Mae Ping River, then explore ancient Chiang Mai, visit the Wat Suan Dok,  and continue to the temple on the mountain Wat That Doi Suthep. Overnight in Chiang Mai. 

Day 6

Chiang Mai – Chiang Dao – Chiang Mai (B/L)

Today, have a day-trip to the Chiang Dao Elephant Camp. There, experience elephant riding and bamboo rafting down the Ping River.
In the afternoon, visit tribal villages and discover a different culture and way of life. Overnight in Chiang Mai. 
Day 7

Chiang Mai (B)

Discover the hidden treasures of Chiang Mai. Experience a serene Buddhist procession at the foot hill of Doi Suthep mountain, discover surrounding temples and mysterious tunnels, explore ancient ruined temples by bike. Later, visit the Chiang Mai cultural hall. Overnight in Chiang Mai. 
Day 8

Chiang Mai – Mae Kampong (B/L)

Drive though the picturesque countryside on the way to Mae Kampong village. En route, stop at a local market and select ingredients for your lunch. Once in Mae Kampong, meet up with your host family and witness their way of preparing a traditional Thai lunch. Then enjoy a traditional Thai massage and take a short walk through the community forest, the tea and coffee fields. Overnight in Chiang Mai. 

Day 9

Chiang Mai – Phuket (B)

Flight from Chiang Mai to Phuket. Upon arrival, meet up with your guide and transfer to your hotel. Free afternoon at leisure to relax on the beach. Overnight in Phuket.

Day 10

Phuket Sightseeing (B)

Have a half-day trip around Phuket to discover the local communities. Meet up with the sea gypsies Moken people in Siray Island, then discover the oldest Chinese shrine in Kathu district, before enjoying local cuisine. Overnight in Phuket.  

Day 11

Phuket (B)

Free at leisure.

Day 12

Phuket  – departure (B)

Transfer to airport for onward flight.

Best time to Travel: The best time to visit most of Thailand is between November and February, because it rains the least and it is not too hot. This period is also Thailand’s main season for festivals, like Loi Krathong.
